The Japan Foundation is Japan’s principal institution dedicated to carrying out comprehensive international cultural exchange programs throughout the world. The Asia Center, established within the Japan Foundation in April 2014, is a specialized unit with the goal to connect people, expand networks, and develop cultural programs across Asia. As the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics lie ahead in 2020, through projects in such diverse fields as music, theater, film, sports, Japanese language education and other academic exchanges, the Asia Center, in cooperation with the Foundation’s overseas offices, pursues and supports various forms of activities between Asian communities. Phnom Penh Liaison Office is one of the branches of The Asia Center based in Cambodia. The office carries out activities to promote cultural and arts exchanges between Cambodia and Japan and to support Japanese language education in Cambodia.

3.Employment status

A contract with fixed-term employment

From the conclusion of contract to 31 March 2020.

The contract is renewable annually based on his/her performance.

4.Expected starting date and duration

From October 2019(negotiable)

5.Working hour

From Monday to Friday

8:00 AM to 17:00 PM (Lunch break one hour and a half)

6.Tasks

He or she will assist the person in charge in the following fields.

a. Japanese language Program

b. General Affairs(IT、Security)

c.Public Relation(SNS、Homepage)

d.Other tasks (such as translation and research) based on the instruction by Director

In addition, he or she might be tasked with implementing proactively according to his/her capacity and proficiency.

In accordance with the office’s rules and regulations

8.Expert competence/qualification

a. Khmer Language: first language or equivalent level

b. Japanese Language: equivalent to JPLT N2 level (at a level that translation at event, negotiation at office work)

c. English language: at a conversational level

d. Professional Experience: about 10 years

e. Educational background: university degree

9.Social competence

a. Good Communication skills  (clearly delivering to the others, actively sharing information and listening patiently)

b. A passion to learn new knowledge and skills

c. Flexibility to deal with tasks, as needed basis, including tasks out of his/her realm of expertise or tasks of inexperienced field and miscellaneous duties

d. Proficiency in administrative skills, including preparation of documents and calculation by Word and Excel

e. Understanding of how to work independently and in team, i.e., not only for self-fulfillment but also for the organizational success

a. First selection

Document screening

Result will be informed only to the successful candidate by e-mail or telephone by 25th October 2019.
